Bite Finder exists because good fishing information is scattered and often gated. Shop reports live on a dozen different websites. Stream gauges live on a government server. Solunar tables live behind subscriptions. This pulls them into one place, for free, with no account.
What you get for any water
Bite windows calculated from sun and moon position, current weather and barometric trend, live USGS gauge readings where a gauge exists, species present, and recent reports from shops and guides who publish them.
What it doesn't do
It doesn't tell you the fish will bite. It tells you when conditions favor activity. The rest is fishing.
How bite windows are scored
The astronomy is standard — major and minor periods from moon position, with twilight overlap counted as a bonus. The weighting is judgment. Barometric pressure is weighted slightly above moon phase here, because the physiological case for it is better: fish sense pressure change directly through the swim bladder and lateral line. It works as a trend, not an absolute — a falling barometer means more than any particular reading.
Where the reports come from
Bite Finder reads publisher-provided feeds and official APIs — nothing behind a login, no scraping. Each report is stored as a link, title, author, and short excerpt. Reports belong to the people who wrote them. Every one links back to the shop that published it.
Coverage is uneven, and that's worth saying plainly
Reporting is concentrated on Upper Snake trout water — Henry's Fork, South Fork, Silver Creek, Henry's Lake and a few others — because that's where shops publish. Many waters have no reports at all. Bite windows, weather, pressure and gauges are computed for every water regardless.
No accounts, no tracking
Nothing is stored about you. Location, if you share it, is used once to find nearby water and then discarded.
